12 Beers of Christmas: Day 11

Have you ever seen Little Big League? Its in the pantheon of classic movies that came out in 1994. It followed the success of Rookie of the Year (1993) and Sandlot (1993) and is joined by Little Giants, Angels in the Outfield, and Mighty Ducks 2. Man 1994 was a great year for movies. Just to name some of the greats:
  • Forrest Gump
  • Pulp Fiction
  • The Lion King
  • The Shawshank Redemption
  • Speed
  • Dumb and Dumber
  • The Mask
  • Ace Venture: Pet Detective
  • The Crow
  • D2: The Mighty Ducks
Wow, what a great fucking list of movies, and that's just the first 10 that came up in Google, Take a look at this list from IMDB. As I look deeper, even one of my all time favorites, Clerks, came out in 1994. What a great year for movies. Can you think of a better year?

Is there a year like that for beers? I can't think of one, but I am just a young gun getting into the craft beer game.  That would be an interesting research assignment. I'll have to get back to you on that.

For the tenth beer of Christmas my craft beer store gave to me, Alter Spalter by Short's Brewing Company!

ABV: 5.20%

This is a true old world style German ale. It pours golden in color and it is very murky. Alter Spalter provides some pleasant scents when putting it through the smell test. We are greated with caramel maltiness and a bit of sweetness, followed by citrusy fruitiness. The final note in this smelltastic brew is a pinch of hoppiness near the end. When tasting this beer your taste buds will be introduced to a wonderful orange and banana mixture of flavors. With the addition of maltiness tastes you have yourself a fantastically flavorful beer. The beer goes down easy, with a medium body and light carbonation. Short's Brewing comes out with another beer that should be experienced by all craft beer drinkers. Fortunately for me, Short's is a Michigan brewery, so finding a good Short's distributor is easy. For those many followers from the West Coast and Southern US areas, if you can get your hands on a Short's beer do not pass it up.

One more day in my 12 Beers of Christmas series. I hope your Hoppy with it so far. Ha see, beer puns are fun.
