"Saturday night and we in the spot
Don't believe me, just watch!"
As Saturday night starts to unfold I am enjoying some wonderful time with my beautiful wife and my loving puppy. We discovered this wonderful new show Homeland and slowly but surely we are working our way through the series. We just started Season Three and can I just say, wow. Very wonderful dramatic TV series. Claire Danes is fantastic as the not all there CIA agent Carrie Mathison. It really keeps you on the edge of your seat, I am excited to see how Season Three plays out. I hope its as good as the first two seasons of the show.
After a long wait, I was able to get my hands on two six packs of Hopslam Ale by Bell's Brewery thanks to the guys over at Nine Mile & Hilton Market in Ferndale, MI. After working at GM for the day I arrived home to remember it was Hopslam delivery day. The Hilton Market was the first place I called, and they informed me that they received their order of Hopslam in, and had seven cases left. "I sprang with a quickness like lightning, disappeared (The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air - Will Smith)". When I arrive they had half an aisle filled with Hopslam six packs. Their limit was set at two. I tried to negotiate a case, but to no avail. I was very satisfied with the two six packs though.
Hopslam Ale is brewed with six different hop varietals and dry hopped with a massive amount of Simcoe hops, using the most complex hopping schedule for any of the Bell's beers. It pours with a light amber color and clear look. The smell is very hoppy and sweet, a hint of honey I believe. It is hard to believe that this is a 10% beer, you can't taste the alcohol at all. There is a hoppy taste to it, obviously, but there is also a sweet taste. The taste of honey is present in the after taste for sure, subtle, but present. The beer has a fairly light taste with good carbonation. Overall, Hopslam did not disappoint. I am glad to have 11 more of these in my beer fridge. Each one will be better then the other. Have you been able to get your hands on a Hopslam Ale? If so, where did you find your glass of wonderful.
