BeerAdvocate, American Craft Beer, and Untapped there are a couple different ways to rate craft beer. BeerAdvocate has five categories to rank beer; Look, Smell, Taste, Feel, and Overall. The rankings are based on scale of 1-5 with .25 intervals.
The American Craft Beer Rating System keeps things simple and fun. The three categories they use to rank beer are Taste, Vibe, and Buzz. The rankings are a based on a 1-5 star scale.
Untapped uses a 1-5 star scale without any sub categories like BeerAdvocate and American Craft Beer.
I think BeerAdvocate's rating scale provides more information for the consumer. Whenever I am reviewing a beer, I write down my thoughts and feelings, and then look through BeerAdvocate, Untapped, and The American Craft Beer for the ratings. Sometimes my opinion matches other reviews, other times it is drastically different. It all depends on the person drinking and reviewing. With that being said, time to do a review.
Kannah Creek is a Colorado based brewery and is producing some legit beers, Lands End Amber Ale being one of them. The Lands End was enjoyed in my 8 Degree's Plato pint glass after removing the bottle from my refrigerator. It pours clear with a light amber/copper color with a finger and half of white head. The rich caramel notes tickle the nose buds with a sweet aroma of toasted hop and yeast. There is medium carbonation with toasted spice elements and sweet and dry spice finish. This is one of the beers from the Craft Beer Club December delivery. It is an exceptional Amber Ale. I only have one bottle left, which will be enjoyed in the next couple of days.
