Java Chip Mint Stout by Odd Side Ales

It was a cold day in Metro Detroit yesterday with the wind chill bringing the temperature down into the negatives. The cold was too much they had to cancel the Detroit Polar Plunge, but not Detroit's Cupid Undie Run. You have to be a bit crazy and a bit drunk to run half naked in this cold weather. I, fortunately, was able to spend the cold Valentines Day with my wonderful Wife. During lunch I drank two beers. One of those beers was the Java Chip Mint Stout by Odd Side Ales

This was a draft pour from Redcoat Tavern here in Metro Detroit. Though the lighting in Redcoat was dim, I believe the color of the stout was coffee black with a small tan head. There was a a direct coffee smell to this beer, I did not notice a lot of mint smell. I would have enjoyed that a little bit more. The taste was very coffee forward, it was the strongest flavor from this beer. You do get some mocha and mint flavor on the back end of the beer. It has a smooth finish, fairly thin feel. Overall, the Java Chip Mint Stout is a good beer and I would consider drinking this again as a dessert beer.
