Sriracha Hot Stout Beer by Rogue Brewery

I arrived in Minnesota, got my rental car and traveled up 35N to Forest Lake where my hotel for the next couple of weeks resides. While packing my bag for this work trip I decided to open up a bottle of Rogue's Sriracha Hot Stout Beer. I ordered this beer before it hit the shelves in Michigan but haven't had enough time to sit down and attempt to enjoy the beverage.

Hot sauce is an American past time from Frank's Red Hot "I put this shit on everything" to the cult following of Sriracha Cock Sauce. Cholula Hot Sauce is a favorite of mine. I slather it on my burritos all the time. Naturally Sriracha Hot Stout Beer enticed me for the novelty. How would a Hot Sauce Stout Beer taste? Adding just a little Sriracha to my food burns my mouth, will this taste translate well into a beer?

The Sriracha Stout pours black like a stout should be. There was a medium tan head that took some time to dissipate and left some lacing around the top of the glass. There was a spicy aroma with the head of the beer, almost like a hot salsa. It was a funky smell, not a big fan of the smell. It reminds me of something but I can't put my finger on what exactly. Behind the spicy smell there lingers a stout like aroma. The first taste is an odd spicy flavor. The Sriracha taste doesn't come through like the hot sauce, but there is a spicy flavor. This honestly isn't a good beer. The novelty wore off quickly. Honestly, this is one of the only beers I had to pour out. Out of the 750 ml bottle, I wasted 3/4 of it down the drain.
