Episode 57 - Minisode Pre GABF

Hello and welcome to another episode of Slurred Words podcast, I'm your host Bill Lowe. And I am coming to you from my hotel room at the Great American Beer Festival. This week I was supposed to post a phone conversation I had with Maureen Cherrett from Great Divide Brewing Company in Denver, CO. Unfortunately, due to technical difficulties with the recording I have decided not to post the audio. The audio recorded was tainted with a mass amount of electrical static and noise that I am unable to clean up using the tools that I have available to me. My apologies and thanks go out to Maureen for talking to me and Alex for setting up the phone interview. I hope to get my act in gear and do a follow up phone interview with her at a later date.

I will, However go over what Marueen and I talked about during the interview, with the first being the fundraiser concert that they are putting on Friday October 7th  in association with Jameson Caskmates to help raise money for the Levitt Pavilion Denver Live! The concert will take place at Summit Music Hall and will feature the 2016 The Voice finalist and nationally acclaimed artist, Laith Al-Saadi as well as Colorado's rising star Brent Cowles and Austin mainstay Garrett Lebeau.

The Great Divide Brewing Company was honored for the 2nd year in a row to be selected and participate in Jameson Caskmates Drinking Buddy program. Through this program, folks from the Great Divide traveled over to Dublin to hang out with Jameson and returned with a whiskey barrels to age their craft beer for a select period of time. Great Divide will be releasing their collaboration beer, The Smoothness, at the concert this Friday and I for one plan to be there for a taste.

So, as you finish your day at GABF make sure you head on over to Summit Music Hall and check out some rocking tunes and some amazing beer. If you can't make it to the concert you can still check out The Smoothness as they tap it around town and at their tap room. Head on over to and check out events for more information. I for one am planning on hitting up their tap room for the Yeti Imperial Stout.

We didn't only talk about the concert though, no Maureen and I talked about what fans of Great Divide can look forward to at the Great American Beer Festival. With my current infatuation with Sour beers Maureen suggested I try the Strawberry Rhubarb Sour Ale, and with the help of the GABF app, which you can download on iTunes and Android devices, I have planned out my strategy for Friday's session and the Strawberry Rhubarb Sour Ale is at the top of my list.

Thats all for the beer talk on this episode, believe me there will be plenty more to come after this weekend at the GABF. Thanks again and my sinscerest apologies to Maureen and Alex for there time. Who knows, maybe I will run into Maureen while I'm at the festival and we can have a redo of an episode. To keep up with the action make sure you follow me on Twitter and Instagram @BillsBeerReport.
