Episode 59 - Marcy and Geoff of Alaskan Brewing Co

This weeks guests are Marcy and Geoff Larson, co-founders and owners of Alaskan Brewing Co. out of Juneau Alaska. Alaskan brewing company, crafting award winning beers from the last frontier for 30 years. Started in 1986 Marcy and Geoff opened the 67th independent brewery in the country and the first brewery in Juneau since Prohibition. I had the chance to sit down with Marcy and Geoff off to the side of the Paired event at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, Colorado. Not only was the paired event one of my favorite parts of the Great American Beer Festival, but it allowed me the opportunity to sample amazing beers paired with equally amazing food dishes. Alaskan Brewing Co. participated in this with two pairings, Alaskan cran-spruce with a carrot cake with spruce cream, orange & maple caramel and alaskan smoked porter (vintage 2008) paired with a braised oxtail, masa dumpling. My favorite of the pairings was the the spruce and carrot cake, they worked so well together.
